Mattel Barcelona Offices

The brief for refurbishing the multiple floors of the current Mattel offices in Barcelona was to completely transform both the company’s way or working and how the space was used. The main challenge was squeezing the workspace of 2 very compartmentalised floors of staff into one single open space, with no private offices. The proposal not only modernises the current facilities but also offers a more flexible working methodology which doesn’t distinguish between ranks or role types, improving communication and teamwork across departments.

The company specialises in the manufacturing and distribution of toys, which is why we created an open, inviting, fun and bright space. The colour red was used as a focal point to make the workspaces standout and contrast against the rest of the space in white, with light wood elements to add a bright and light feeling to the space.

The design of the meeting rooms and phone-booths is a nod to each of the companies iconic toy brands. The use of colourful chairs and vinyls enhance the space and make each room unique and special.
